Our Story

A Legacy of Service & Sacrifice

Alok Charitable Trust was established in memory of Late Lt. Alok Gupta, who laid down his life in the line of duty in Jammu & Kashmir on 1st May 1988.

The Trust was created to carry forward his values of courage, compassion and service to society.

Over the years, the Trust has been actively engaged in the challenging task of socio-economic transformation in rural and underserved communities across India through education, healthcare and livelihood initiatives.

We believe that when children and communities are given access to knowledge, skills and opportunities, they can become confident, self-reliant and active contributors to society.

Our Founders

Dr. G P Gupta

Dr Gupta is the Chairman of the Trust. He retired from the post of Joint Commissioner, Ministry of Agriculture ,Government of India.

Dr Gupta served the Indian Government as an Agricultural Scientist for over 30 years. He had over 20 years work experience in the area of rural education and community development.

Mrs. Daya Gupta

Mrs. Gupta was working for the past two decades as a Social Worker.

She focused on the education and empowerment of women. She initiated various activities like sewing and candle making to help women in the rural community become self-reliant.

She was also been closely involved in the management of SRB Alok School, Gangagarh.

Prof. Dr. Anil Gupta

Chairman

Padma Shri Professor Anil K Gupta is a visiting faculty, Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad; after retiring recently and at IIT Bombay. Ph.D. (Management), MSc. Biochemical Genetics; Fellow, National Academy of Agricultural Sciences; Fellow, the World Academy of Art and Science, California 2001. Founder, National Innovation Foundation

Mission is to expand the global as well as local space for innovations from and for grassroots, link ideas in informal and formal sector; to ensure recognition, respect and reward for creative communities, individuals, children and tech students etc., and to augment open innovations by individuals, institutions, corporations, and countries through frugal, flexible and friendly empathetic platforms.

He facilitated Festival of Innovation & Entrepreneurship (FINE) through NIFindia.org, hosted by the office of President of India at The President's House ( March 19-23, 2018); pursues research on sustainable natural and institutional resource management, building global value chain to get the grassroots and youthful creativity its due; link technology youth with the problems of MSME, and other innovators unlocking corporate and public/private institutional creativity through empathetic open reciprocal innovations, support strategic organizations for making breakthroughs innovations; SRISTI awards young tech students.

Teaching: PPID Iwith Hon'ble Former President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee, Globalizing and Resurgent India through Innovative Transformation (GRIT) with Bharat Ratna Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam, former President of India (2008-12). He has pursued Shodhyatra, learning walk in every state of India once covering more than 5000 km during 1998-2016 and has started second round from 2017 along with Honey Bee Network volunteers.

Honours: CSIR Bhatnagar Fellowship 2018-21, Best Researcher award at IIMA, 2015, Humanistic Management Lifetime Achievement Award by the Humanistic Management Network, at the 73rd Annual meeting of the Academy of Management, USA, 2013; Ph.D Honoris Causa, San Martin de Porres University, October, Peru 2015; Doctor of Letters from Central University of Orissa, July, 2012; Hermes Award European Institute for Creative Strategies and Innovation, Paris, 2012; Padam Shri, 2004, a national civil award by The President of India; Adjudged as one of the fifty most influential people in the field of intellectual property rights around the world in 2003, Managing Intellectual Property 2003, Adjudged as one of the Star Personalities of Asia, Business Week, 2001, apart from several other national and international honours. Member of many governmental and corporate bodies, Prof. Gupta is a widely published author.

Shri. Pankaj Bhartiya

Vice-Chairman

He a Mechanical Engineer from NIT, Kurukshetra and has devoted his career to building the power sector of India with over 42 years of experience in Thermal Power generation and efficiency enhancement.

He has worked across geographies to implement the latest technologies including Japan, USA, Canada and Thailand amongst the most prominent. Over the last 5 years, he has been working with State Electricity Boards and private organizations in India as an independent consultant.

For his contributions, he has received national and global recognition and several awards such as the USEPA, IEA, India Earth-care award for SAARC and the Lifetime Achievement Award by International Society for Automation.

Through his experience, he has helped setup the 8KW solar power plant for the school managed by Alok Charitable Trust in Gangagarh enabling technology driven initiatives to run uninterruptedly. He also chairs the Alok Shiksha Samiti which is the Managing the school.

Shri. Arun Gupta

Managing Director

Mr. Arun Gupta has more than 25 years of experience in Financial Consulting. He operates a Financial Consultancy firm providing total financial solutions to large as well as Small & Medium Enterprises covering wide spectrum of industrial sectors.

He has earlier served Bank of India as Vice-President of the Merchant Banking division.

He is Managing Trustee of Alok Charitable Trust and also discharging duties as Manager of S R B Inter College.

He is involved in various social and charitable activites . Apart from managing the SRB Inter College he is also managing the Madhyam centre in Delhi.

He is Board Member of Diksha foundation our partner NGO working
in Patna and Hilsa in Bihar.

Shri. Rakesh Gupta

Treasurer

Mr Rakesh is a Commerce Graduate and runs a Printing Firm. Actively involved in art of living activities in faridabad. Did a lot of work for lepors and their kids at leprosy colony, Faridabad.

He has been working for women empowerment and Skill Development for 5 years in six villages, organizing mind relaxing sessions, enhancing skills in sewing and making them to start their own stitching centers. Also arrange free training to young males and females for 45 days with assured employment opportunities. During this period have been able to arrange job for about 4500 youth.

Shri. P P Sharma

Shri P P Sharma is Ex Joint Secretary/ Executive Director from Railway Board, Ministry of Railways, and Delhi. He worked in various capacities in Ministry of Railways.

He is Prolific Writer with 25 books published, Stories collection of of Essays on Education, Society etc. A strong Advocate for Common Schooling system (Saman Siksha) and use of Mother Tongue in Education and Administration.

He is regular columnist in Various Newspaper, Magazines suc as Jansatta (India express Group) Hans. Kathadesh, India today etc.

Shri. Neeraj Kumar Singh

He is having experience of more than 15 years of litigation, deals in different genres of cases, oscillating from Civil to Criminal to Constitutional to Intellectual Property to Corporate to Consumer to Labour, to name a few, across the spectrum of Courts, judicial as well as quasi judicial, including the Hon'ble Supreme Court.

Firmly believing in the ethos that Law is a means for and of empowermenthe along with dedicated and devoted group of Lawyers, believes in putting its best foot forward Though, litigation remains the core strength of the Firm, it has the knack and expertise in Drafting documents of the nature, like Service Contract, Non-Disclosure Agreement, Confidentiality Agreement, Sweat Agreement, and has offered opinion relating to applicability and compliance of statutory requirements to various Companies.

He is involved with various organisations set up to give free legal Aid to needy. He not only gives legal guidance to Trust but also guides on social issues.

Shri. Gautam Gauri

He is Co-founder and Executive Head of Diksha Foundation. After working for three and a half years in IT sector, Gautam decided to pursue his dream of making education accessible for underprivileged children in Bihar .

With his wide professional and academic experience of eleven years, he has made a significant contribution to the education sector in Bihar. He holds an MPhil in Education from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom. He was awarded the prestigious Commonwealth Scholarship for the same. He did his MBA in International Business from Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad, India. His professional interests include values based education and technology in classrooms.

As a co-founder of Diksha, Gautam has been actively involved in the operations of Diksha from day one. His personal interests include swimming, trekking and meditation.
