Our Community Initiatives

Alongside our long-term educational projects, Alok Charitable Trust runs several initiatives that address the everyday needs of rural and underserved communities.

These initiatives focus on education support, women empowerment, health awareness, livelihood development and dignity for the elderly — ensuring that development is holistic and sustainable.

1. Vocational Education & Training

Vocational Training & Digital Skills Development
Teacher & Students
To reduce school dropout rates and create income opportunities, the Trust initiated skill-based training programs under the “Earn While You Learn” model.

Starting with small-scale chalk and candle making initiatives, the program has evolved to include vocational training in computer education at Gangagarh and Hilsa centres.

These programs help youth develop employable skills and build confidence towards financial independence.

2. Women Empowerment & Community Health

Empowering Women Through Skills & Awareness
Women Empowerment Program
In collaboration with student volunteers and community partners, the Trust has supported women empowerment initiatives that encourage skill-building and entrepreneurship.

Women have been trained in stitching, knitting, embroidery and handicrafts, enabling them to generate income and support their families.

Medical awareness programs and community health camps have also been organised to improve health outcomes in rural communities.

3. Scholarships & Financial Support

Encouraging Academic Excellence
Students receiving awards
The Trust provides scholarships to deserving students who demonstrate talent and commitment to education.

Special support is extended to girl students to encourage continued education and reduce dropout rates.

These scholarships ensure that financial constraints do not prevent students from pursuing their dreams.

4. Adopt - A - Granny Program

Supporting the Elderly with Dignity
Adopt-A-Granny-Program
Many elderly individuals in rural areas lack financial security and family support.

Through the Adopt-a-Granny initiative, the Trust supports destitute senior citizens in villages around Gangagarh by helping meet their basic needs and ensuring they live with dignity and care.

5. Youth Development Initiative

Yuvak Mangal Dal - Youth Leadership & Community Engagement
Indian Village Women

The Trust encourages youth participation through Yuvak Mangal Dal (YMD), a youth group that promotes constructive community development.

The group actively engages in campaigns on:

  • Clean communities
  • Waste management
  • Education awareness
  • Health and hygiene
  • Active citizenship

This initiative nurtures leadership and responsibility among young adults.

6. Agricultural Support Services

Strengthening Rural Livelihoods
Indian Farmer
Recognising the importance of agriculture in rural communities, the Trust facilitates training programs for farmers through agri-experts.

Support includes improved crop care techniques, dairy and animal husbandry training, and productivity enhancement programs.

These efforts help increase income and sustainability for farming families.

7. Health & Hygiene Initiatives

Promoting Health & Sanitation Awareness
Village Community
The Trust has implemented several health and hygiene awareness initiatives in collaboration with partner organisations.

Programs focus on sanitation, preventive healthcare, menstrual hygiene awareness and youth health education to improve overall community well-being.

8. Community Dharamshala & Library

A Space for Learning & Community Support
Indian School
With community support, the Trust established a Dharamshala that serves as a community centre and gathering space.

A library has also been set up for local residents, providing access to books and resources, including study materials for competitive exams.

This shared space strengthens community engagement and learning.
